Opening of CMHA Wood Buffalo’s Recovery College
Feb 20, 2020
On November 14th, 2019, Canadian Mental Health Association – Wood Buffalo will be officially opening a new Recovery College as part of a long term plan to address community needs for effective addiction and mental health services.
The College – the second in Alberta – has been modeled after internationally recognized and evidence-based Recovery Centres from across the world. From the work and recommendations of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, and with the benefits of extensive local, provincial and national consultation and program testing with service users, professionals and service delivery organizations.
The Recovery College model gives individuals, and family members, the skills they need to support their own recovery; developed by people with their own lived experience. This allows them to build their resiliency and mental wellness in their own way, on their own terms. Everyone is welcome! There are no fees, and no appointment or referral is required!
