Mental Health Coordinator-Job Description

The Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation/facilitation of programs to the public throughout the Municipality of Wood Buffalo on topics relating to mental health such as: emotional regulation, mental health awareness, resiliency, and recovery, as well as peer support.
The Mental Health Coordinator requires a deep understanding of mental health, mental illness, and suicide prevention; has demonstrated experience in public speaking and group facilitation; practical knowledge of strategies for promoting mental health; and knowledge of community mental health resources. The Mental Health Coordinator will be skilled at using technology efficiently and effectively and developing and maintaining professional relationships with community stakeholders.

As part of this position, the Mental Health Coordinator will be one member of the two-person team that travels to Fort Chipewyan one to two times a month. These are often overnight trips where specific programming and support services are offered to community members.

Qualifications
•Minimum college diploma in human services
•Strong group facilitation and presentation skills
•Very comfortable with public speaking
•Knowledge of community resources and mental health issues
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills
•Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows applications, Canva, and social media applications
•Ability to problem solve
•Lived experience around mental health and recovery
