Mental health consumers are regularly in need of special support that is not addressed in any other manner in our community. The Consumer Advocate is a program worker that works with consumers to address their individual needs. This person provides support for individuals suffering from mental health issues, their families, and friends.
The Consumer Advocate can help with issues concerning the Mental Health Act, housing, social assistance and/or AISH, education, income tax, legal concerns, food, health care, addictions, banking, budgeting, clothing, social skills and programming, and menu planning and nutrition.
The Consumer Advocate offers a referral service to clients, facilitation of support groups, assistance in goal planning, provision of information and resources and will advocate on behalf of consumers to fulfill their basic needs and human rights.
