A night of music as a therapeutic tool supporting your mental wellbeing during Mental Health Week
We are proud to host the annual Charity Jam and Silent Auction fundraiser, supporting mental health programs and services in the RMWB.
The Charity Jam & Silent Auction will be celebrated on Friday, May 5 during Mental Health Week (May 1-7, 2017). CMHA is encouraging the RMWB to GET LOUD and take action for positive mental health. What does it mean to GET LOUD? To GET LOUD means speaking up to stop discrimination against people struggling with mental illnesses. It means taking action and using your voice to raise awareness and build support – for yourself and for those around you.
Mental Health Week overlaps with the one year anniversary of the fires. CMHA wants to support your mental wellbeing with a night of music and community involvement, while supporting mental health. Music is often linked to mood. A certain song can make us feel happy, sad, energetic, or relaxed. Because music can have such an impact on a person’s mindset and well-being, it should come as no surprise that music therapy has been studied for use in managing depression, stress and anxiety levels.
Please join CMHA on Friday, May 5th from 6pm-12am in the Miskanaw Ballroom at MacDonald Island Park. Tickets are $10.00 / person. They can be purchased online at Eventbrite or by contacting CMHA directly at 780-743-1053.
This year’s large silent auction prize is a travel package for two to Las Vegas, brought to you Royal Reserve Canadian Whisky’s Alberta Strong campaign, which supports Albertan organizations that have been dedicated to helping Fort McMurray recover from the 2016 wildfires and have truly exemplified what it means to be #AlbertaStrong.
Are you a musician? We are seeking local musicians to take the stage during the open jam portion of the evening. Host Band: The Veins will provide equipment and instruments. Open Jam will be from 8pm-12am. Sets will consist of 10 minutes to ensure everyone has an opportunity to play. Please contact CMHA for more information, 780-743-1053 ext. 4 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
